Sisal flooring is simply elegant and refined on it’s own. It’s made from 100% natural plant fiber which is a rougher texture, but can bring ambiance to a room in many ways. We researched and wrote a blog a while ago on “throw” rugs over your sisal flooring. Get a little refresher here. Upon more research and questions from our customers about creative sisal flooring, we share more innovative ideas with you.

1.) Layering Over Sisal Flooring
This is an easy way to add more texture and a focal point right away. It will expand your living space by creating more floor area if you spread your rugs out. Using rugs on top of sisal flooring is a great way to cover existing flooring to give it an instant fresh new look. Also, another reason we love layering is because it adds warmth to a room and extra comfort underfoot.

2.) Painting Sisal Flooring
The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York has their Gala every year celebrating the biggest night in fashion. Models, musicians and actors are out and dressed their best for the red carpet. The Met brings in sisal flooring to have it painted for the event. There is a different theme every year, but below is from this spring. It’s some very time consuming and detailed work, but turns out looking so stunning and high-end. We found do-it-yourself videos and creative stenciling that you could apply to your custom sisal rug, but we suggest leaving the more intricate designs to the professionals.

3.) Sisal Flooring As Wall Paper
One more way we suggest getting creative with sisal flooring is to use it as wall covering. Not only does it add texture to a room, but you’ll have a neutral canvas for wall hangings and it naturally reduces noise. Our Livos weave is our top choice and is available in twelve colors.
