What is TerraStrand®?
TerraStrand® is the proprietary name for Chilewich yarns, a 100% phthalate-free product. The TerraStrand® yarns contain 25% renewable vegetable content and are also free of heavy metals and petroleum-based plasticizers.

Can I use Chilewich in a contract setting?
Yes. Broadloom or wall-to-wall is rated class 33 for Heavy Commercial applications. If you choose a custom area rug, it is rated for Residential and Light Contract settings. 

Why are there seams in my rug?
Chilewich fabric comes in 72" wide rolls. If the rug or floor mat is wider than 6' in width, it requires using two mats and seaming them together. The seams always run parallel to the length and are in the middle of the mat unless there is a request to put it elsewhere. If a mat exceeds 12' in width, the two seams will be evenly spaced.

Can my Chilewich product be used outdoors?
Yes, Chilewich custom rugs and the vinyl-backed broadloom can be used in an outdoor application. Please read the Care Guide under the Care tab for more information on how to care for your rug.

Chilewich Flooring Care

All Chilewich products contain Microban® antimicrobial protection, which works continuously over the lifetime of the product to inhibit the growth of stain- and odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew. It is ideal for any healthcare, hospitality, home or office environment where mold and mildew are a concern.

Chilewich's synthetic TerraStrand® yarns create sophisticated textiles that are durable, resistant to mold and mildew, and easy to maintain. Made in the USA, this weave is 100% phthalate-free and is produced with 17% rapidly renewable content.

We carry the contract version of Chilewich that is made with a fiberglass core instead of polyester. This is a stronger weave and will hold up longer than the Chilewich used in standard sized mats found at most retailers. If left outdoors or in direct sunlight, this weave will fade over time.

METHOD

Standard/ Curbside Delivery: Standard curbside delivery means your rug will be delivered by one driver to the curb or to your driveway. The driver is not responsible for carrying your rug into your home or office, unpacking the rug, unrolling it or clearing away packaging. Curbside delivery on all orders is FREE. If you need additional services, consider Enhanced Delivery.

Oversized Rugs: For oversized items, we recommend enhanced delivery service, by appointment. 

Enhanced Delivery: This service offers various levels of inside delivery options which may include the following: 

• over the threshold delivery

• placement in the room of the customer’s choice (including up or down one flight of stairs)

• unpacking

• removal of packaging

• assembly and placement of the items

We are happy to provide a quote upon request, taking into account the delivery address and service level preferred. Please state the best delivery contact name and phone number when checking out as the delivery company will need a valid contact number to reach you. Someone must be present at the time of delivery.
