Durable contract-grade sisal alternative with natural look
SynSisal® Langley | Bark
The most recent addition to GuestHouse's UK portfolio of "one-off boutique hotels in happening hotspots", No. 124 Brighton thoughtfully combines modern amenities such as an in-house spa and open-air surf and turf with the period charms of restored Regency-style architecture and reclaimed hardwood floors. Part of their overall brand aesthetic and particularly apropos for the breezy coastal vibe of No. 124 is their preference for warm natural sisal woven carpeting. Unfortunately the humid seaside air and heavy foot traffic on stairs and in corridors shortens the lifespan of natural fibers significantly. GuestHouse's interior designer was therefore on the lookout for a synthetic alternative with the same sisal look and feel.
GuestHouse's interior design team found us through a web search and reached out to Curran & sisalcarpet.com in December of 2023. With production facilities in Europe and our international offices nearby in the Netherlands, SynSisal®, our selection of recycled nylon sisal alternative carpet weaves, has convenient and flexible logistics for our UK and EU clients as well as a proven track record of successful installations.
After being wowed by our extensive portfolio of beautiful stair runner installations (No. 124 has a series of narrow Victorian staircases) we coordinated with a local carpet fitter to supply Langley Bark.
Langley is a tiger-eye patterned weave and Bark is a medium-dark forgiving and practical color choice for heavily trafficked stairways and a fitted wall-to-wall installation for four floors of long guest room corridors. GuestHouse was blown away by the result and had these photos taken shortly after opening their doors in late 2024.
Survey an assortment of completed project photos from No. 124 Brighton, by GuestHouse.
Part of our exclusive SynSisal® collection, Langley's thick yarns contribute dimension, stability, and texture to this tiger eye structure.
SynSisal® is Curran & sisalcarpet.com’s proprietary and unique hard-wearing synthetic sisal alternative, unlike any other product on the marketplace for how it looks and performs in contract and hospitality settings. While there are other products out there that look like sisal, many are unbacked polypropylene which may be easy to clean but are not durable enough to withstand heavy foot traffic.
SynSisal® has the closest look to a natural fiber sisal, with none of the drawbacks for commercial spaces. It is made from 100% ECONYL recycled nylon, reclaimed from plastic waste. It won’t stain like natural sisal, and is far easier to clean. It is certified for Class 33 - Heavy Contract Grade durability as well as rated to meet commercial building fire codes. Bark is a practical and forgiving color choice for high-traffic areas such as stairways and corridors.
SynSisal® is a contract-grade carpet that is designed to stand up to heavy foot traffic, moisture, and spills, even red wine and burger grease. We recommend James cleaning products for especially tough stains.
No. 124 Brighton, by GuestHouse honors Brighton's roots as a seaside escape just a short train journey from London, and is steps from the beach and the historic Palace Pier. For a luxurious spa-getaway, al-fresco surf and turf, and classical architecture and coastal decor, No. 124 is the complete vacation package.
