You can create a custom runner from almost any weave we carry. The best material depends on where the runner will be used.
Entryway, Kitchen, Laundry Room
Busy areas that might get wet or experience heavy traffic need durable, easy to clean materials. Look for synthetics like polypropylene, SynSisal®, woven vinyl or recycled PET.
Hallways & Landings
A runner rug in a hallway or on a landing encounters lighter traffic and is an ideal candidate for sisal, stain-resistant sisal, seagrass or a blend.
Bathrooms & Bedside
Soft fibers like wool, wool blends, poly silk or TENCEL make a welcoming, comfortable runner.
To narrow your options, expand the Material filter and select your preferred fiber type.
When you have found the perfect style, select Price & Order on the product page to begin creating your custom runner.
In the Rug Builder, select Rectangle, choose your color and enter the dimensions.
Next, select a Border. Available finishes, like a serged edge or cloth binding, vary by weave.
Confirm your border selection and select Finalize Order to review optional supplies.
When you are satisfied, select Add to Cart. You can still edit your order from the shopping cart if you change your mind.

Yes. While many area rugs are anchored by furniture, runners are usually free-floating in a hallway or in front of a kitchen sink and present a tripping or slipping hazard if unsecured. A rug pad helps keep the runner in place and reduces the risk of slipping or tripping.
Rug pads also add cushioning, improve comfort underfoot, and help extend the life of your rug by providing additional support.

When building your runner in the Rug Builder, you will have the option to add a rug pad during the Finalize Order step.
