We developed SynSisal® as a softer, more livable alternative to natural sisal. Our design clients adore the natural fiber look and the neutral foundation that sisal creates, but not every client enjoys sisal’s texture underfoot or its fussy upkeep. With SynSisal®, you can have the fibrous texture and muted aesthetic of sisal in a performance-driven weave suited for residential and commercial spaces.

SynSisal® is the definitive sisal-look product on the market, outperforming other synthetics in design, performance, and sustainability. Recognized by the design community, it has earned an iF Design Award 2025 and was a finalist in the 7th Annual Gray Design Awards.

Many synthetic sisals rely on generic, unbacked polypropylene blends that lack durability, texture, and fire compliance, and are made from virgin petroleum. In contrast, SynSisal® is the first sisal-look flooring made with ECONYL® regenerated nylon. This high-performance fiber delivers superior texture, fire resistance, and longevity in high-traffic environments—extending its use into hospitality, retail, and other demanding settings.

Engineered with designers in mind, SynSisal® is the closest match to natural sisal, with the added benefit of easy maintenance. Nearly a decade of development refined its yarn color and weave, resulting in a premium sisal aesthetic across both broadloom and modular tile. SynSisal®’s ECONYL® fibers have built-in stain resistance and in most cases will stay stain-free and beautiful with regular vacuuming and simple spot treatments. The low-profile and tightly woven construction prevents spills from penetrating the surface, allowing for easy cleanup.

Although many spills can be treated with water, we recommend a pH-neutral cleaning system such as the James Starterset (approved for use on our SynSisal® rugs and carpets). Yes, ECONYL® yarns offer the same durability, cleanability, and versatility as virgin nylon. SynSisal® is contract grade, low VOC, and meets commercial fire ratings.

Solution-dyed ECONYL® fibers provide UV resistance, high colorfastness, and long-term appearance retention. These synthetic sisal weaves are built to perform in high-traffic environments, from homes to hotels and offices, while maintaining the look and color of natural sisal.

Yes. SynSisal® is available as broadloom for wall-to-wall installation and as modular tile for flexible layouts in both residential and commercial settings. Each style creates an expansive, refined foundation across living rooms, bedrooms, hotel rooms, retail spaces, and offices.

Proper installation is key to long-term performance, especially for flatweave broadloom. We recommend working with an experienced installer familiar with flat-woven carpet.

The ECONYL® solution-dyed Nylon 6 yarns used in SynSisal® are regenerated from salvaged fishing nets, discarded carpet, and other repurposed materials. By reclaiming waste from oceans and landfills, ECONYL® reduces pollution and avoids the need for new raw material extraction.

For every ton produced, it saves seven barrels of crude oil and prevents approximately six tons of CO₂ emissions. These fibers can be regenerated repeatedly, making ECONYL® a truly circular material—often referred to as “the endless yarn.”
